Elaine Mora

Elaine Mora is a dedicated doctoral candidate in Rehabilitation Counseling at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), expected to graduate in August 2025. Her work encompasses psychosocial aspects of disability, crisis intervention, forensic rehabilitation and vocational consulting, with a focus on her groundbreaking dissertation examining the intersection of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and polytrauma in personal injury litigation; this study aims to enhance the rigor of neuropsychological opinions in life care planning. Elaine's research interests include mental health, trauma, disability issues, stigma and discrimination, bereavement, multicultural diversity, and the intricacies of addiction. Furthermore, Elaine holds a Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling with a Concentration in Addictions from UTRGV. She is Board Certified (NCC) and is a licensed professional counselor associate and chemical dependency counselor intern in Texas. With extensive experience in higher education teaching and hands-on clinical practice, she supports diverse populations with disabilities, mental health issues, and substance use challenges. As a vocational rehabilitation consultant, Elaine contributes to effective vocational assessments and life care plans, empowering individuals with disabilities to navigate their paths to inclusion and independence. Committed to fostering resilience and advocating for systemic change, Elaine is dedicated to transforming the landscape of rehabilitation counseling for future generations.
